Today, the units from National Police Administration's Gendarmerie units were attacked at the Crestmontian Weapons Checkpoint, and 3 were confirmed dead. While the attack was not claimed by anyone, it is suspected the CLA and CLA-affiliated organisations involved at the death of the 3 officers. "The deaths occured throughout the firefight," the commander of the element protecting the checkpoint commented "It wasn't a surprise attack, they had superiour firepower and numbers, as well as equipment."
After the small Gendarmerie unit protecting the checkpoint was overwhelmed, they were forced to pull back to avoid a total wipe-out of the entire element. Multiple people were seen sneaking past the checkpoint into Crestmont, whether they were armed or not was unknown. The paramilitary forces were seen looting the single unrecovered body of a fallen Gendarmerie soldier as the Gendarmerie units had to pull back.
Since the First Civil War, the situation in Crestmont has been growing ever more uncontrollable by the central government, as both CLA and other various paramilitary organisations ramp up their activity at the power vaccuum left behind following the fracture of the Crestmontian political scene between the Separatists and Unionists.
